Roberts Caribbean Receives Award for Investment in Sports
In celebration of St. Andrew’s Methodist School 170 years of providing excellent education to the nation’s children, the School’s Past Pupils Association hosted an award ceremony at the Deluxe Cinema Grenville on January 7, 2016. This top class event recognized a diversity of individuals and companies who contributed immensely to the School’s development over its more than 100 years of operation. More than 50 awards were distributed, targeting past principals (e.g. Lloyd Roberts and Orlins John) and students, staff and corporate entities.
Roberts Caribbean Limited was among the awardees, acknowledged for its contribution to development of sports at the school. The award was received by CEO of Roberts Caribbean, Dianne Roberts. The two and a half year old Real Estate and Environmental and Development Company was indeed delighted to be a part of this auspicious occasion. The company began sponsoring the annual school sports in February 2014, less than one year of commencing business operation in Grenada. According to Mrs. Roberts, the late Principal Mrs. Bernadette Christopher approached her one day at the school in late 2013, and lightheartedly suggested that Roberts Caribbean provide support to the institution’s sports meet. Mrs. Roberts noted that her Company agreed to Mrs. Christopher’s request almost immediately. Therein began the Roberts Caribbean St. Andrew’s Methodist School partnership.
To date, the young corporate citizen has sponsored the annual sports meet for the third consecutive year. Roberts commented that the investment has been both fruitful and satisfying, and is a testament of her Company’s commitment to youth development and nation building. The Company has expressed an interest to the School’s Sports Committee in scaling up its contribution in “Building Champion Athletes at SAMS” who will in the near future represent their school, parish and country at the regional and international levels.
